“Transform Stress into Serenity: Achieve Mental and Physical Harmony with 10 Focus Techniques”

Remember that stress doesn’t come from what’s going on in your life. It comes from your thoughts about what’s going on in your life. – Andrew J. Bernstein

We all know that stress is an inevitable part of life. However, keeping your stress level in check & under your control is not that boring affair. Here are a few stress reduction methods for a healthier, focused and more tranquil life.

Table of Contents

1. Deep Breathing for Mental & Physical Harmony:

Deep breathing can help relax your mind and body, activating your body’s relaxation response to get more focus in life.

The correct way to breathe when experiencing stress or anxiety is to inhale deeply through the nose for 4 seconds, hold the breath for 4 seconds, and then exhale slowly for another 4 seconds.

This technique is called Box Breathing and is used by the USA Special Forces Navy Seals to keep their brains calm under pressure and in hostile situations.

2. Exercise/ Physical Activity to Increase Focus:

Regular physical activity can help you deal with anxiety and stress significantly.

Our Body has its healing power, and we have a lot of good hormones to take care of our mood and health. But because of our unhealthy lifestyle and lack of awareness of our own body we don’t know how to handle our happy hormones.

If we can’t rigorously follow any workout pattern, even a brisk walking with nature or few minutes of stretching can release Endorphin hormone which is a natural mood lifter.

3. Meditation for Focus & Peace of Mind:

मनः एव मनुष्याणां कारणं बन्धमोक्षयोः।

The mind is the cause of bondage and liberation for humans.

Stress reduction is one of the most common reasons why people are inclined towards meditation.

One review concluded that meditation lives up to its reputation for stress reduction.

Normally, mental and physical stress causes increased levels of the stress hormone Cortisol. This produces many of the harmful effects of stress, such as the release of inflammatory chemicals called Cytokines.

These effects can disrupt sleep, promote depression and anxiety, increase blood pressure, and contribute to fatigue and cloudy thinking.

In an 8-week study, a meditation style called “mindfulness meditation” reduced the inflammation response caused by stress.

So, when you do meditation, you will learn to sit with the same thoughts that are repeatedly annihilating your inner peace and then your mind will be trained gradually on how to handle that stress and after a few minutes, you will get a sense of calmness and focus.

When you start your meditation journey it is very difficult to sit for a few minutes by closing your eyes but if you want to conquer those inner demons just keep your eyes closed and focus on slow breathing. Spend a few minutes each day focusing on your breathing or a calming image to help you align your thoughts. Click here to get the relaxing meditation music.

4. Listening to Music:

Music has a very powerful impact on our emotions and thoughts and can be used as an effective stress management tool. Research published in the journal Heart found that “Listening to music can lower Blood Pressure, Heart Rate and Anxiety.”

Listening to music at 432 Hz also brings more calmness to mind, which is like the vibrational frequency found in nature.

Listening to “Aum” also at 432 Hz or 417 Hz has its own benefits as 432 Hz can eradicate Fear and promote Positivity and 417 Hz can cleanse the Mind and remove Negativity and Toxicity.

5. Progressive Muscle Relaxation:

This method involves tensing and slowly relaxing each muscle group in the body.

Start from your toes and work your way up to your head for a full-body relaxation process.

The best way of doing this and dealing with stress is to stand in front of the mirror with a smiling face because a smile boosts your mood and confidence then start taping your whole face slowly with your fingers by saying – “I am Happy, I am Healthy, I am good, I am living my best life, I will achieve all my dreams and Today is the Best Day.”

6. Connect With Nature:

“Each kind of tree is a sort of musical instrument: the apple a cello, the old oak a bass viol, the cypress a harp, the willow a flute, the young pine a muted violin.  Put your ear close to the whispering branch and you may catch what it is saying.”Guy Murchie, Jr.

According to the world’s most ancient science of healing and medicine Ayurveda, the elements of life come in five forms i.e. Fire, Water, Earth, Air, and Ether are known as Panchamahabhutas (Pancha meaning 5, Maha meaning big, Bhuta meaning elements).

Everything we see around the world, every human being every organism is made of these 5 elements.

These 5 elements have their own healing power. But in this generation, Human Being is more inclined to stay in the material world than the physical world. We love to spend our time more on mobile screens with blue light than the actual sunlight.

A simple walk in the park barefoot under the Sun has way more benefits than an expensive gym membership or binging at home.

The sound of air, the sound of birds chirping, the cold breeze, and the orange rays of the sun in the morning have way more healing power than anything else.

7. Mindfulness:

“Be there where You are.”

Mindfulness involves focusing your awareness on the present moment. It means paying attention to your sensations, feelings, thoughts, and environment in the here and now with an attitude of acceptance.

So, when you start practicing Mindfulness you will know how those small things give you more happiness by being present there fully. It is like when you travel if you stop using your camera or mobile phone to take a lot of pictures and just sit there and enjoy the view you will sense the beauty of everything more.

8. Laughter:

Perhaps I know best why it is man alone who laughs; he alone suffers so deeply that he had to invent laughter.Friedrich Nietzsche

The power of laughter is it can instantly lift your mood and reduce stress.

LAUGHTER enhances your intake of oxygen-rich air, stimulates your heart, lungs and Muscles and increases the endorphins that are released by your brain.

So, whenever you feel stressed or having anxiety watch a Funny movie, read a humorous book or spend time with people who make you laugh.

9. Engage in Hobbies:

Ever found yourself trapped in an endless cycle of work, chores, and responsibilities? The weeks blur into weekends, which blur right back into weeks in a monotonous continuous cycle.

Somewhere along the way, we often forget to make time for the things that genuinely bring us joy, creativity, and meaning. The good news is there’s a solution to break free from this daily grind: Hobbies.

Hobbies are like keys that unlock the door to a happier, more fulfilling life and if we can build hobbies that involve more outdoor activities like working out or taking any sports else hobbies like singing, dancing, painting or may be learning a new musical instrument.

Research says if we practice something for 100 Hrs in a year that is roughly 18 minutes a day then we can master and unlock new skills.

It is always those small positive changes and small steps that matters in life.

10. Spend Time with Positive Energy People for a Happier Life:

“The key is to keep company only with people who uplift you, whose presence calls forth your best.”Epictetus

To put it in the words of an American entrepreneur and motivational speaker Jim Rohn, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with”.

We always tend to become like those who are the closest to us. Consciously or unconsciously, we pick up certain traits from those who surround us and imbibe them in our lives, making everything fall in sync.

So, if we surround ourselves with people with positive Aura eventually the same energy will radiate to us.

The most important part of keeping your positive energy within you is knowing who the energy suckers are, who gives you constant bad vibes and negative energy no matter how hard you try to make things right. Learn to keep a safe distance from such people and make time for meaningful interactions with those who truly care about you.

So, here are a few methods we can follow in our lives to achieve mental and physical harmony.  “Our anxiety does not come from thinking about the future, but from wanting to control it.” – Kahlil Gibran

So, we need to learn acceptance to grow like this quote goes “Just when the caterpillar thought the world was ending, it turned into a butterfly.”

Thank you for reading through my article. There are many different methods mentioned here that you can incorporate into your life for greater happiness and well-being. Remember, Everyone is figuring things out as they go along, so be kind to yourself and take it one step at a time.
